Historic Political Engagement by Hindu Community Marks New Chapter Ahead of New York Democratic Primary
New York, USA: A significant milestone in the political participation of the Hindu community in the United States was marked ahead of the upcoming New York Democratic Primary Election, as the Hindu Democratic Club of America organized a major endorsement and community engagement event in support of Democratic candidates. Organizers described the initiative as the first large-scale political endorsement effort undertaken by the Hindu community in the country.
The event brought together a distinguished group of political leaders, community activists, and public figures. Among those present were Assembly candidates Patrick Martinez and Somenath Ghrime, Senate candidate Hiram Monserrate, judicial candidates Edmond Wong and Edward Irizarry, and a representative from the campaign team of Steven Raga. Also in attendance were Democratic District Leader and Founder of the Hindu Democratic Club of America, Dr. Dilip Nath; organizer Shakti D. Gupta; veteran journalist and social activist Shitangshu Guha; former General Secretary of Jagannath University Shyamal Chakraborty; President of the Jagannath University USA Chapter and political leader Subal Debnath; and Dinesh Majumdar, President of the Times Square Durga Puja Committee.
During the program, speakers urged members of the Hindu community to actively exercise their voting rights and emphasized the growing importance of political awareness, civic responsibility, and stronger engagement in mainstream American politics.
Participating candidates reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the concerns, aspirations, and expectations of the Hindu community. Speakers noted that the initiative represents an important step toward empowering the Hindu diaspora and ensuring greater representation and influence within the political landscape of the United States.
According to organizers, the efforts of the Hindu Democratic Club of America extend beyond electoral endorsements. They described the initiative as a historic movement aimed at fostering political unity, strengthening civic awareness, and enhancing the voice and representation of Hindu Americans in the democratic process.
